I might be the last person to be clued in on this, but I did not know you shouldn’t use soap to clean a wine decanter. The soap can affect the taste of the wine (oops sorry Nick)! A family friend informed me that to clean one, fill it about a 1/4 way with warm water, pour in about a tbsp of salt, swirl it around and that should do the trick. Good to know, thanks Maria!
Happen to be..
a wine enthusiast? If so, then you’ll love this Riddling Rack. This rack is a reproduction of the antiques used in the early 1800’s to help the champagne making process. It’s handmade, distressed and can be found at the etsy shop Home Restyle. It holds 36 bottles of wine, but they also sell a 12 bottle rack as well. Store (or show off) your wine collection, or maybe this will even inspire you to create one.

(pronounced chock-oh-LEE-nah) is a white wine from the Basque region in Northern Spain. It’s slightly effervescent, very refreshing and is my preferred warm weather libation. The bottle of choice is from the maker Txomin Etxaniz, which is a little hard to come by but definitely worth the hunt. And if for some reason you don’t kick the bottle, cork it with a Best Year wine stopper!
Broke Ass Wines
broke ass (wine) home. No surprise that on a recent trip to the liquor store this label for a wine called Broke Ass caught my eye. It’s branded as a “no frills great value wine” from Argentina that’s cheap. I won’t pretend I know much about wine, but it’s good – a blend of Malbec and Syrah, not too heavy and a great way “bandage your budget”.
