Healing Spices

A gift..

Healing Spices by Bharat B. Aggarwal, PhD

Healing Spices by Bharat B. Aggarwal, PhD

from Rene and it’s priceless.  Healing Spices is by Bharat B. Aggarwal, PhD, a professor at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center who has done a ton of research in the field and documented the health benefits of 50 spices for us.  From everyday to exotic spices, these powerful substances boost health and can help to beat disease. The book is really easy to read (from front to back or skip around to what’s relevant) and includes a bunch of recipes too.  Can be found at Jackie’s Savory Spice Shop. Be proactive – get it and use it now!

Nacho Cheese Blend

Another winner..

Nacho Cheese Blend

Nacho Cheese Blend

from Savory Spice Shop. With just the right amount of kick, Nacho Cheese Blend is the perfect spice to have around when you need to whip up a quick appetizer. It’s so flavorful, and lately my favorite late night snack is popcorn with this blend added to it. Delicious!

Dill Dip

My friends..

Dill Dip

Dill Dip

at Savory introduced me to Dill Dip. It’s probably one of the easiest, least expensive and tastiest appetizers you can make. You simply mix the Dill Dip blend (found at Savory Spice Shop of course) with some sour cream. Depending on which way you want to go, you can use low fat, fat free or regular. If you’ve got an extra five minutes, chop up a cucumber and add some feta cheese to the mix for a little extra flavor. Again based on your preference, slice a pepper or use crunchy potato chips for dipping. Delish!

BBQ Spices

This summer is..

BBQ

BBQ Spices

flying by, so no better time than now to have a BBQ. I asked my dear friend Jackie from Savory Spice Shop to give us a list of 5 essentials for barbecue fare. Here are her savvy suggestions:

Pikes Peak

Guest Hunter, Jackie Mittelhammer

Say hello to..

Jackie Mittelhammer

Jackie Mittelhammer, Guest Hunter

Jackie Mittelhammer, this week’s Guest Hunter.  A long time friend and savvy entrepreneur, Jackie co-owns Savory Spice Shop Westfield with her sister.  After many years at a corporate job, she knew it was time for a change.  On a trip to Colorado, Jackie came across a great opportunity to start her own business.  With a bit of patience and a lot of hard work, they were able to open Savory in Westfield, NJ.

Savory houses over 400 spices and seasonings, making any foodie’s mouth drool.  If you’re in the area, a stop in the shop is a must as you’ll be blown away by the copious amount of spices & blends.  And if you need some guidance (I know I sure did) Jackie’s knowledge and comforting nature can point you in the right direction.  If you can’t make it to the store, hit up their facebook page for more info on how to get the goods delivered right to your doorstep!
