Siksakkia Cutting Board
kitchen a quick makeover with these potholders, oven gloves and cutting boards from Rk Design. The brand was created in 2011 by Riikka Kantinkoski, Finnish photographer and designer. And beyond kitchen accessories, there are fun things for kids and grown-ups too. How fab are these happy stickers!?!? Great for dressing up a boring bookcase or giving a little artistic edge to a plain cardboard house. See it all from Rk Design here.

A total fan..
Little Nest Giddy Up Chair, $695
of Little Nest, an Australian owned furnishings company that makes functional kids furniture using fair trade practices while remaining committed to their local community. The company is inspired by “innovative design, technology and fresh ideas”, which is evident in all of the modern, super fun and very contemporary pieces of furniture. Whether it be a place to sit or a table to color on, this one’s hard to resist.

It would be nice..
to have a home filled with the Scandinavian designs from Huset. The name Huset means “the house” in Swedish, Danish and Norwegian. This shop brings together individuals who create collections of beautiful modern products like Lisa Bengtsson Tillsammans Posters, Camilla Engdahls Arla Birds, and of course anything from Ferm Living. It’s close to impossible to only name a few. So don’t take my word for it, go scout the rest here.
Sorapot Teapot $200
this isn’t just another teapot. The Sorapot, designed by Joey Roth is modern, unique and apparently brews a mean cup of tea. It’s made from stainless steel, borosilicate glass (Pyrex), food-grade silicone, and is available in brushed or mirror polished. Everything about this innovative design is cool, even the packaging.
A design duo..
worth keeping handy in your rolodex (do people still have those?). INX Design was established by two of my good friends who both have backgrounds in designing film & TV sets, as well as prop and wardrobe styling. They can magically bring a modern sensibility to any apartment, photo shoot or showroom. INX has also developed a line of furniture, like the unconventional Bond Club Armchair that is custom-crafted in New York with only the best materials. In my eyes, they are simply the best!

Koolabah Striped Turtleneck Hoodie
to make a trendy line that’s also unisex, but Koolabah has done just that. This edgy little kids’ brand makes clothes that combines the functionality Scandinavia is known for with that clean Japanese aesthetic. Koolabah was started a few years ago by a husband-wife team after they had their first child.. something tells me they must have the coolest dressed kid/kids in town! They make clothes for ages 0-6 and it seems as though they gravitate toward solids or simple prints and use their unique design details to make the statement. So the line’s contemporary and modern, but also super comfortable and versatile. Most importantly, they omitted all of the “decorations” designers have an affinity towards using when making clothes for kids. Smart, very smart!
