Harajuku Mini for Target
Gwen Stefani’s Harajuku Mini collection hit Target last weekend. The Japanese street style inspired boys and girls line totally reflects Stefani’s aesthetic. It’s full of color and includes prints, tutus, pleated skirts, dresses, and tees; all of which are perfect for layering and meant to mix and match. According to Stefani “It’s my style mixed with the way the Japanese dress their kids — a lot of clashing and mixing and things that you wouldn’t think go together. I wanted the Harajuku Mini collection to reflect that kookiness. I also got to put some of my signature styles through the years in: punker pants, plaid skirts, zippers”. Well, mission accomplished and 6 more deliveries are planned for 2012, can’t wait to see what else Stefani creates.
Ada Ada AW11
to Ada Ada by the lovely kids’ store Shuk-Shaka. The contemporary line is designed by three sisters and is full of high quality clothing for boys and girls from 0-6 years old. They use natural fabrics, simple designs and a clean color palette. The result is a collection that’s very wearable and super stylish. For Ada Ada, every season is an adventure and AW11 is no exception. The talented trio drew inspiration from children, focusing on their bravery and playful imaginations. The fall delivery is full of bold prints, unique fabrics including “suede like” knits and superb detail. The line’s got sophistication and just the right amount of edge, pretty much total perfection.

simple is better. That’s certainly the case with kids’ clothing line, Neige. The brand was started by Adrienne Catrina, who studied fashion at Parsons and worked as an assistant designer at Vera Wang in New York. After becoming a mom and moving to the West Coast, she realized there was a void in the kids’ clothing market – too many pieces had silly frills and unnecessary details. As a result, Neige was born. It’s a brand that’s all about clean, modern pieces for kids. Comfort is the number one priority but the fact they everything’s so easy, simple, and age-appropriate doesn’t hurt. Doing kids’ clothes right.

Girls by Pamela Hanson
the brilliant book by photographer Pamela Hanson. Girls is definitely not new to the scene, but it quietly sits on my book shelf until I need a spark of creativity. Hit up Blushing Ambition and Knitlit for some more inspiration.
