Of a Kind

The founders...

Of a Kind

Of a Kind

Claire Mazur and Erica Cerulo, of the web site Of a Kind are doing something that’s pretty darn phenomenal.  Their tagline is ‘Know and Own’ and that’s what they do. They take local talent (aka smaller designers) and expose them to their community by sharing the designer’s story and selling limited-edition pieces from these emerging brands. The concept is brilliant and these girls have great taste. Maybe I’m biased seeing as a number of the brands they carry have landed on a threetwentyeight blog post. Either way, with names like Matt Singer, Ace & Jig, Thomas Sires (more to come on the Nolita shop Tuesday), and Apolis this is kind of the mecca for amazing talent that isn’t on everyone’s radar.. yet. Genuine, real style from two ladies who are clearly true fans of fashion. Thank you, love the concept and the site!

Ace & Jig

Absolutely thrilled..

Ace & Jig Baja Hoodie

Ace & Jig Baja Hoodie

when I came across Ace & Jig at a market appointment last week. The Brooklyn-based label was started by 2 friends who left their jobs in fashion to start families and eventually decided to collaborate on this great line. The fabrics are sourced in India and are a medium-weight regardless of the season.  It’s so colorful with bolt stripes and patterns – a refreshing change from a lot of what I’ve been seeing.. super vibrant and quite casual. If I had it my way, I would have bought the entire line! They are still fairly hard to find online, so here’s a list of stores that carry the brand.
