Guest Hunter, Lainie Gutterman

Meet..

Lainie Gutterman

Lainie Gutterman

Guest Hunter Lainie Gutterman. She’s a former NYC publicist turned stay at home mom, who is constantly inspired by her adorable 2-year-old son, Ian. So much so that she created Me, Myself, and Baby I during her pregnancy. But before having her baby, she was a founding partner of a Public Relations firm and describes herself as a “natural born publicist.” In addition to writing her own blog, she also contributes to other sites, enjoys scrapbooking, shopping, dining out and getting manicures (who doesn’t?!) – but most of all she loves being a mom.

Be sure to read on to find out what is at the top of this savvy gal’s must have list at the moment.

HOME:

Winston Bar Cart

Winston Bar Cart

Prior to becoming a stay-at-home mom, I was a wine and spirits publicist, so naturally I had an urge for my own home bar. As soon as we laid our eyes on this James Bond like piece of furniture at Jensen Lewis, we knew we had to have it!

The Winston Bar Cart is great-looking as well as practical. When completely open, the Winston bar cart transforms into a regular bar ready for entertainment, but can be stored away when the party is over. The metal frame and the intriguing diamond stitch pattern gives the Winston a nostalgic look, which is the perfect place for an extra dry martini. The interior of the Winston
offers generous space of storage for wine glasses and your favorite wines.

Lollipop IN Space Saving System

Lollipop IN Space Saving System

In NYC, space is at utmost premium. So not only does our bar fold up and act as my work station for blogging on my laptop, but our son has Murphy bunk beds! We leave the bottom bed down and the top bunk bed is hidden until it’s time for an impromptu sleep-over! The LOLLIPOP IN Space Saving System is a wall bunk bed system that includes a completely integrated ladder which also functions as a bed support, a safety rail for the top bunk and a storage shelf above the top bunk. This system is also available with an optional fold-out desk mounted to the front of the lower bunk and optional folding headboards.

Naran Ji Hand Wash

Naran Ji Hand Wash

I am not a fan of scents. Neither my husband nor I wear cologne/perfume. Our laundry detergent is even fragrance-free. Two years ago, while at Jade Mountain in St. Lucia (it’s the ultra-high-end resort where Bachelor Brad proposed to Vienna which should be featured in Great Things), I happened to try to the Molton Brown Naran ji liquid soap in the restaurant bathroom. When I returned to our table, I insisted my husband go to the bathroom and try it too. It’s the only soap I will use to wash my hands!

Powder and Smoke Candles

Powder and Smoke Candles

The fact that these dripping paint cans are candles is an added bonus! I just love the adorable packaging. These two particular colors even match my living room. The candles from Powder & Smoke will burn for approximately 50 hours. What a great housewarming gift, especially while renovations and painting are still in progress.

HERS:

Shades of Grey

Shades of Grey

Grey Will Never Be Just a Color After You Read This. We’ve all been there, and have had a “school girl crush.” Fallen head over heels for a “bad boy” who our heads know is wrong and yet we can’t stay away from. We can’t get enough of that person and don’t even recognize our self when we are in his company.

Ana’s mom Carla explains to her, “You’ve fallen for someone, finally. Oh, honey, men, they are so tricky. They’re a different species, honey.” IF only she knew the half of it! This is not the guy you want taking your innocent daughter’s virginity.

I may be going out on a limb here, but I think one of the main reasons 50 Shades of Grey by E.L. James appeals so much to us moms is the whole newness and excitement of their relationship. Reading their email exchanges makes me remember when I anxiously would await witty emails from my now husband. Ana and Christian’s relationship has many parallels to Carrie and Mr. Big.

Leigh Standley of Curly Girl Design

Hang Your Heels Art Board

Aaaah, we’ve all got that one friend who struggles to come up with her rent and is constantly crying poverty ….but somehow always shows up wearing a killer new pair of heels. This hang your heels art board is part of the fantastic collection of artist Leigh Standley of Curly Girl Design. The quote on the wall hanging reads, “Home is where you hang your heels up.” Personally, I find my king-size bed a million times more comfortable than stilettos, but hey, we all have our own priorities.

Cheeky Umbrella

Cheeky Umbrella

Cheeky Umbrella offers fun and upbeat umbrellas to brighten up even the dreariest days and not rain on anyone’s parade. I totally have our eye on the “This is shopping weather” umbrella. There’s even one with a “Warning: I splash!” label for any child who likes to jump in puddles. Thanks to Cheeky, rainy days don’t have to get you down. I’m still searching for a solution for Mondays!

HIS:

Pink Polo

Pink Polo

Since high school, I have always been most attracted to a guy wearing khakis and a Ralph Lauren polo (preferably pink or baby blue, but most preppy colors will work) And two decades later, fashion trends and styles have drastically emerged and changed for women’s fashions and yet this is still what turns my head on a man. (So now that I’m happily married, I let you in on the way a guy could have gotten my attention!)

KIDS:

Beaba Training Cup

Beaba Training Cup

One of the milestones that come with your baby celebrating their first birthday is that they are now expected to be old enough to stop drinking out of a bottle. So after only using a nipple for their entire life, young children are supposed to suddenly enjoy drinking out of a hard spout. Most families find this to be an extremely difficult transition, ours included. I swear by this secret weapon: I gave my son the Beaba Training Cup with the nipple for 2 days and then switched to the hard sippy top. The product is BPA-free, shatterproof (which is a very good considering how often my son’s lands on the floor) and is dishwasher safe.

ITZBEEN

ITZBEEN

As every new parent knows, your memory is one of the first things to go when a newborn arrives. The ITZBEEN™ Baby Care Timer is a multi-purpose tool that helps you remember the basic details of baby care including when your baby was last fed, changed, napped or given medicine. The ITZBEEN has several other helpful features including a nursing reminder switch that easily reminds mom which side baby nursed from last, a soft-glow nightlight to help parents
find their way in the dark without waking the baby and a backlit display so parents can read the times and the clock in the dark.

“In the chaos of life with a newborn, it’s reassuring to have a device that keeps track of feedings, diaper changings and the nap schedule. It tells you what you need to do and when so you don’t have to remember. It lets you be on auto-pilot,” said my husband who would constantly ask
me, “Did you hit the ITZBEEN™?” or “How long has it been?” As first-time new parents, we would find it fascinating that almost like clock-work, our son would cry when the ITZBEEN™ showed us that it had been close to 3 hours since his last (bottle) feeding.

Yo Gabba Gabba Vans

Yo Gabba Gabba Vans

This is the only footwear my two and a half son will wear. I have stopped buying him any other shoes and buy this same pair in the next size as he’s about to grow out of his current pair. I can’t tell you how often we got stopped on the street by moms and kids asking us where we got them. You would think he was wearing Loubatains! (I even bought myself a pair of the pink Foofas!)

FOOD:

Tickler English Cheddar

Tickler English Cheddar

Cheese, please! The Tickler cheese we buy at Murray’s is out of this world.

sweetriot chocolate

sweetriot chocolate

Almost every night after dinner, my husband descends into the kitchen and returns with the best dessert! I don’t know why he continues to ask me IF I want a piece of this chocolate, because he knows I will never turn it down. This NEW sweetriot edition is for all the CACAO enthusiasts! With every bite, you experience the pure taste of 60% dark chocolate accompanied by the rich
crunchy cacao nibs.

Hot Cinnamon Sunset

Hot Cinnamon Sunset

I am not the least bit surprised that MY favorite tea is also THE most popular flavored tea Harney & Son offers. With an assertive blend of black teas, three types of cinnamon, orange peel, and sweet cloves, its sweet enough not to need any sugar added.

Greek Frozen Yogurt

Greek Frozen Yogurt

Ice Cream, You Scream…We all Scream for New Greek Frozen Yogurt. Ever since I was a little girl, I have loved ice cream. Hands down, without a doubt, if I could only eat one food for the rest of my life, it would be ice cream. It is my go-to food, my comfort food, my “I deserve a treat” food, my “life is wonderful” food, my “life stinks” food….Come to think of it, the only time I disliked ice cream was when I was pregnant (Go figure! So much for craving pickles & ice cream!)

As I’ve gotten older and my metabolism has slowed down, I have forced myself to make the switch to frozen yogurt as much as possible. I’ve been disappointed that Ben & Jerry’s offer so few frozen yogurt flavors. Don’t get me wrong – I love the Cherry Garcia, Double Fudge Brownie, & Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough fro yo, but all I’m saying is that variety is the slice of life. Well, guess what folks, my prayers have been answered!

The company has combined the creamy richness of Greek Yogurt with their notorious colossal chunks and swirls to bring you Ben & Jerry’s Greek Frozen Yogurt. Sunday morning, I ordered in a Belgium waffle (one of the many benefits of living in NYC where any whim can appear at your doorsteps very easily), and topped it off with my new coveted pint of Ben & Jerry’s Greek Frozen Yogurt. It was so creamy and delicious!

GREAT THINGS:

Chanel Wallet

Chanel Wallet

The Chanel wallet on a chain really needs no explanation. What’s not to love? It’s Classic Chanel and it holds all of your necessities – money, plastic cards, keys, lip gloss, pen, nail file and possibly your cell phone. I specifically chose to put this under great things and not hers because males need to be made aware of this phenomenal object. After my family and my engagement ring, it is my most prized possession (does that make me sound shallow?)
