Animal Polka Dot Bookends

bookends from the vintage style Dutch brand Pakhuis Oost are stylish and functional at the same time. A sweet (and not too expensive) way to keep books in place. They’re handprinted and handcrafted in Vietnam and you can choose from a bird, squirrel, fawn or rabbit (my fav). Available at the well curated and beautifully designed children’s shop Sunday in Color.

Halloween Costume…Struggle

So thankfully..

Halloween has come and gone. I’m embarrassed to admit I sort of struggled with Leni’s costume this year. I’m not exactly proud of it, but I was trying to influence her to dress up in something cute, creative and could be used year round – like the adorable cat dress above. She resisted and spiderman won BUT..

she rocked it!

What to Knit When You’re Expecting

It’s a must..

to check out the recently launched book, What to Knit When You’re Expecting. Not just because the author happens to be a friend, or her daughter (who sports the most adorable knitted creations made by her mama) is Leni’s bud, but more so because the 28 patterns featured in the book are all very practical. It’s a smart and lovely collection of booties, hats, sweaters, blankets, and more that are all relatively simple to create. Congrats Nikki!

Posters & Prints for Kids

It’s fun..

dressing up a kid’s room (before they are opposed to what YOU want). For me, keeping it kid like without going overboard is the way to go. Mimi’s circus has some new posters that will add a bit of whimsy while still keeping it in check.

Wary Meyers Tongue Chair

What kid..

Wary Meyers Tongue Chair

Wary Meyers Tongue Chair

wouldn’t want this chair? The Tongue Chair by Wary Meyers takes a vintage fiberglass chair, gives it a new coat of enamel paint with some new details like eyes and adds a pink vinyl tongue for the finishing touch. The result is a functional chair thats’s comfortable and doubles as a piece of art.  It’s one of those got to have pieces.

SoYoung Backpacks

Many more..

SoYoung Junior Backpack

SoYoung Junior Backpack

thoughtful and lovely designs from SoYoung. It’s no secret that the Charlie Bag is a favorite of threetwentyeight, so of course I jumped at the opportunity to check out a junior backpack. The “camera bag” as I was calling it came along on a beach vacation with the family, and my niece and nephew (who are 12 and 10) were loving the design – actually we all were. Leni wanted to get in on the action too, although I don’t think she’s there quite yet.

Some other neat details of the bag are the waterproof lining and the collapsible insulated lunch sack, which can be used separately. This came in super handy for drinks & snacks.

After vacation, my sister (who is 25) saw the bag in our apartment and was instantly smitten. It’s really the perfect bag for all ages and any adventure whether it’s school, hiking or a day at the beach. What’s not to love?
