Christopher Waller SS12 | AW12

Making..

Christopher Waller SS12

Christopher Waller SS12

“boyish chic” cool is what Christopher Waller’s upcoming collections are all about. The designer teamed up with British Actress, Sophie Wu to create and design AW12.  The outcome is awesome textures and gorgeous pieces that are done in muted colors – lots of blacks, whites and greys.  There’s leather paneled outerwear pieces, digitally printed silks and jerseys, combinations of lace, as well as silks and wool.  Sophisticated, well-made and once again, practical. Got to love this Made in London line.

Guest Hunter, Joyce Hwang

Met..

Guest Hunter, Joyce Hwang

Guest Hunter, Joyce Hwang

our Guest Hunter, Joyce Hwang when we worked together a while back. She’s one of those people who’s super easy-going, always smiling and has fun with her style. Joyce was born and raised in Hong Kong, moved to the States to attend Northwestern University and then headed to New York to start her career in the fashion industry. Currently she’s living in Hong Kong where she’s Product Merchandiser for The Outnet (China) and in a few months will be moving to Shanghai to continue to work for the Net-a-Porter subsidiary.

For Joyce and fashion, no two days are the same.  It’s a great way to “transform and innovate” she says.  “One day I feel like being a hippie, the next day a business woman, the next a rocker.” She describes her style as “eccentric – easy looks with unexpected mixes while still feeling like myself and wearing clothes that make me happy”. She’s an individual and onto trends way before most, so KEEP READING to get schooled from this star.

Merchant & Mills Sewing Notions Set

Inspired..

Merchant & Mills Sewing Notions Set, $75

Merchant & Mills Sewing Notions Set, $75

to sew after coming across the Merchant Mills Sewing Notions Set. As pathetic as it sounds, the packaging alone is incentive. But when you realize it comes with tons of handy tools that were selected by an expert tailor for the quality and usefulness, it’s even easier to justify.  The kit includes needles, pins, wide bow scissors, tailor’s chalk and beeswax, a seam ripper, threader, thimble, and tape measure. We fell in love with Kaufmann Merchantile when we came across the Tube Wringer on their site a while back and they keep delivering.  Big fans.

Green Juice

After my beloved..

local organic market had to close its doors, I bit the bullet and made the investment in a juicer. I’ve been excited to use lots of fruits, but really wanted to explore juicing with vegetables. I have to admit I’ve been a little reluctant in experimenting beyond carrots and spinach. So I searched around to find recipes that I could try, and hopefully enjoy. Just yesterday, I tried this green cocktail recommended by Martha Stewart – which is a mix of pear, apple, spinach, parsley, celery, cucumber, ginger and papaya to add a little sweetness. Overall I was delighted with the taste, however I did omit the parsley, switched out papaya for mango, and probably would add a little more ginger next time. I then came across Whole Family Fare, a beautiful blog run by mom and cook, Megan-Joy.  She features many great juice combinations, and vegetarian recipes that are now on my “to try” list. Not to mention the photography is gorgeous! I’ll definitely be documenting more of my juicing endeavors soon.
