A simple way..
Pillows from Bark Decor
to give new life to an old couch. These hand-printed pillows from Bark Decor are made with eco-friendly water based inks. And I must say, I have not come across interesting pillows this reasonably priced in a long time. This etsy shop is also stocked with lovely tea towels, bedding, jewelry, scarves, turbans, and tons of comfy tees. They’ve got it all covered!

Luke Irwin Cloud Rug
a focus group last week for a home magazine, FURNISH, and learned about a ton of new affordable furniture and decor lines like these rugs by Luke Irwin. Many of which are hand knotted using a combination of wool, silk and cashmere. Some have a ton of color, some are a bit more tame. All are super cool and sure to be a fun way to add charm, uniqueness and warmth to any room.

Guest Hunter, Peter Evans
we have Peter Evans joining us as a Guest Hunter. Peter lives in Kensal Rise, a neighborhood in North West London and works for Warner Music. Back in September 2011, he started a very cool men’s clothing and style blog, Send A Raven; which was a fairly natural progression once he was introduced to photography and realized most of his time was spent talking about clothes and stuff he liked.
In addition to style and photography, Peter also loves strumming a guitar and writing songs (totally worth checking out by clicking HERE). He’s got lots of good stuff to share, so KEEP READING and when you’re done here, be sure to take a look at his BLOG and TUMBLR page. Enjoy!!

Do you have..
that note-writing person in your life? Well, I am one of those people, and when I was introduced to Mercier Beaucoup it was a happy day. In addition to being a great resource for all of your stationery needs, they offer Stationery Subscriptions – a gift anyone would appreciate. An assortment of cards are delivered to the recipient for either 3, 6, or 12 months (depending on which you choose). Rachel, the owner of this shop, has graciously provided the promo code “ssholiday” to save 10% off of holiday stationery subscriptions. A great thing indeed.

Polariod Z340 Instant Digital Camera
combines all of the conveniences of a digital camera with the fun, print on-the-go ability Polaroid is known for. Unlike most cameras, the Z340 Instant Digital Camera functions as a digital camera but has an integrated printer that prints pictures in under 60 seconds. You can also view and crop images prior to printing, use the iconic Polaroid border or play around with other custom borders. Doesn’t get much more fun than this. It’s official, one of the coolest cameras around just got cooler. If that was even possible.
How have I..
Mast Brothers Chocolate
missed Mast Brothers Chocolate for so long? I could answer that in many ways, however I am still baffled since it seems to be everywhere (including one of Megan’s posts). With the lovely packaging and the broad assortment of flavors like dried cranberry, stumptown coffee, and crown maple; I would be a happy girl if Santa were to bring me one of these delightful bars. Even more so, my sweet tooth is telling me to head to Brooklyn for a tour through the Mast Brothers Chocolate Factory..heaven!
Jamaican Chicken Stew
one of those meals that’s in my monthly rotation. This recipe for Jamaican Chicken Stew from Cooking Light is one that I wasn’t totally sold on until I made it. Mainly because I hadn’t ever thought of combining ingredients like black beans, red wine and capers. Regardless, figured I’d give it a whirl and am glad I did. There’s a similar version I found for a slow cooker too, but this one can be done on the stove and (once again) great for making on a weeknight. Hint: make extra so you’ve got leftovers!
1 cup uncooked long-grain rice
2 tsp olive oil
1 cup chopped onion
1 1/2 tsp bottled minced garlic
1 lb skinned, boned chicken breast, cut into bite-size pieces
1 tsp curry powder
1 tsp dried thyme
1/2 tsp ground allspice
1/2 tsp crushed red pepper
1/2 tsp cracked black pepper
1/4 cup dry red wine
2 tbsp capers
1 (15-ounce) can black beans, rinsed and drained
1 (14.5-ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
1.Prepare rice according to package directions.
2. While rice cooks, heat oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat.
3. Add onion and garlic; sauté until tender.
4. Combine chicken and the next 5 ingredients (chicken through black pepper) in a bowl.
5. Add chicken mixture to pan; sauté 4 minutes.
6. Stir in wine, capers, beans, and tomatoes.
7. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer 10 minutes or until tender.
8. Serve over rice

Founded in 2000..
Kidscase Bob Turtle
launched in 2001, Kidscase is the work of designer Jacqueline van Nieuwkerk and marketer Merel Verbrugge in Amsterdam. They were (and continue to be) about creating a line for boys and girls up to the age of eleven that fit today’s lifestyle. Simple pieces, many made from organic fabrics and all with great detail. In their words “comfortable, wearable, sophisticated, and radiating style and cool chic”. Enough said.

This reminds me..
so much of my pops. He’s an old school guy and still uses his shave kit. When I asked him why he prefers the mug & brush he told me “it’s gentler on your face and gives you a smoother shave. The drawbacks are it’s cumbersome for traveling, and a little more time consuming.” There happens to be many more modern options these days, and New York Shaving Company, The Art of Shaving and Etsy are just three (of the many) great resources for finding these classic grooming tools.
